College Scholarships
Students attending public high schools in Jefferson Parish apply for scholarships in the fall of their senior year. Most recipients receive four year scholarships to Louisiana colleges or universities.
Collaborative relationship between Jefferson Dollars for Scholars and Louisiana universities increase scholarship values.
Select scholarships may be used at any accredited college or university. Currently, scholarship recipients attend 36 college and universities.
Academic Enrichment Scholarships
Scholarships awarded to Kindergarten to Grade 8 students for summer enrichment programs.
Through each school, in conjunction with the school's principal and designated Dollars for Scholars coordinator (usually a teacher or staff member), students are selected for scholarships. Students are selected by teacher recommendations, among other criteria as determined by the school.
Unlike our college scholarships, there is no formal application process. Jefferson Dollars for Scholars makes NO recommendations regarding student selection; rather, we only ask that the student(s) selected represent both their school and JDFS in a positive light and can benefit from their experience. Please contact your child's school for more information on the selection process at their specific school.
Enrichment programs include theater, science, art, computers, dance, study skills, and student leadership.
ACT preparation program
Free ACT Preparation classes are offered to Jefferson Parish Public High School students on a rotating school-by-school basis during the fall and spring. Please contact your child's guidance counselor for more information.
